Livewire Connections USA offices, which are situated at the Lauderdale Marine Center, Fort Lauderdale is now within a US marine Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) as of the 7th June 2017.
The Lauderdale Marine Center has recently announced that they have been granted status as the first marine FTZ in America with slips already available and plans to develop and grow this space as the demand increases.
For customers of Livewire Connections this opens several monetary saving opportunities when it comes to carrying out new installations, upgrades, and maintenance work on satellite communications systems. For new-builds, built outside of America, and non-USA flagged boats up for brokerage, these can now be shown and taken for sea trials; something that is not permitted outside of a FTZ.
“This opens up many opportunities which will benefit both end users and companies within the FTZ,” comments Matthew Roberts, Sales Manager at Livewire Connections. “In some instances, there are saving of 1.5% import duty, resulting in some significant monetary benefits for existing and potential customers.”
Livewire Connections looks forward to being on site to support both individual customers looking for satellite and IT networking on board, as well as continuing the relationships with those in the industry to help meet the potential future increase in demand of vessels coming through Fort Lauderdale.
Matthew goes on to say, “We are predominantly a service business, and customers are at the heart of everything we do, we believe that this new agreement will offer additional opportunities for Livewire and we can further meet our customer’s needs.”
