Congratulations to Dan Parsons and Olly Clark, Team Atlantic Challenge, winners in the pairs class and third overall in the Talisker Whisky Challenge in a time of 42 days 17 hours 59 minutes and 45 seconds.
To stay connected they purchased two Iridium Extreme satellite phones and SkyFile mail was installed on a rugged laptop. Combined these enabled Dan and Olly to communicate with those on land, both via phone and email. It also meant they could receive emails and messages from family, friends and well-wishers whilst also updating their website and social media with their progress throughout the epic journey.
Team Atlantic Challenge is the second team Livewire Connections has been involved with in the Talisker Whisky Challenge, having worked with Row 2 Recovery back in 2011.
“The sat phones and email proved invaluable,” commented Dan Parsons. “There were many times during the crossing when hearing news from back home really picked us up and motivated us to keep rowing, and times when we wanted to share something exciting or simply tell people back home we were safe. Livewire Connections helped to make that possible.”
