Livewire Connections has recently supplied and installed a new Sea Tel 4010-91 VSAT system to the RV Odyssey Explorer.
The RV Odyssey Explorer is a specialist under water recovery vessel which requires fast and reliable Internet access to undertake this and future projects. As a turnkey VSAT supplier and Sea Tel main dealer Livewire Connections is well positioned to provide a solution that met the performance and price criteria Odyssey Marine Exploration had for the project.
The Sea Tel 4010-91 VSAT system is one of the latest 3-axis marine stabilised VSAT antenna systems available on the market today and is designed to operate in the harshest of marine environments providing reliable communications wherever the vessel operates. We coupled this with a broadband 2048/512 Kbps Global IP airtime package including local USA & UK numbering to enable local calls between the head office and vessel thus providing the crew and project staff with the ability to stay connected.
Due to the short turnaround time Livewire Connections arranged for the equipment to be delivered directly to the vessel as soon as she arrived alongside in Portland. The antenna was mounted and cabling run in by the ship’s crew whilst our engineering team connected and commissioned the system and pre-assembled below decks rack equipment and modem enabling the ship to leave port on schedule to start her recovery operations.
David Walker, Livewire Connections' Sales Director commented, “We are delighted to be working with Odyssey, and whilst the short turnaround proved challenging at the time, we are pleased our solution is delivering the connectivity required to support this exciting project.”
“With the significance of the projects we work on, it was apparent that the RV Odyssey Explorer would require a high capacity/quality communications system. Livewire Connections provided a very competitive quote and had our system mobilized with extremely short notice. The Livewire support team has also been superb and addressed any issues promptly and in a most professional manor,” said Odyssey Project Manager, Aaron Rogerson.
